New TV Ad Commends Lincoln For Standing Up Against EFCA Special Interests
June 1stLittle Rock, AR (June 1, 2010) – Today, with Arkansas voters taking a fresh look at the issues a week before the June 8th runoff election for the Democratic nomination to the U.S. Senate, the Coalition for Arkansas Jobs (CAJ) is launching a statewide television advertising campaign applauding incumbent Senator Blanche Lincoln for her opposition to the job-killing Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act (EFCA).
If passed, EFCA would take away workers’ rights to a secret ballot when deciding on forming a union and would allow government bureaucrats to set employment contracts – without approval from employees or employers. Small businesses unable to comply with the government’s demands would be forced to shut their doors or move overseas – two adverse decisions that would negatively impact Arkansas’ economy and increase unemployment. Economists estimate that passage of EFCA would result in roughly 600,000 lost jobs nationwide in the first year alone.

“National labor unions have spent millions of dollars to influence Arkansans in the Democratic primary and runoff, and they’ve done so in order to buy Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter’s support for their job-killing agenda,” said Robert Coon, state director for the Coalition for Arkansas Jobs (CAJ). “Labor bosses have publicly stated that they expect ‘payback’ on their significant investment in the form of the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act. It is important that Arkansans know that leaders like Senator Blanche Lincoln, Governor Mike Beebe and Congressman Mike Ross oppose EFCA, while Bill Halter takes Big Labor’s money and refuses to tell the people of Arkansas the truth about where he stands on the chief legislative priority of out of state special interests.”
