New Web Video Puts Bill "Easy Money" Halter's Contradicting EFCA Statements On The Record

May 26th

Little Rock, AR (May 26, 2010) – A new web video by the Coalition for Arkansas Jobs (CAJ) shows three separate instances in which Lieutenant Governor and Senatorial candidate Bill Halter has contradicted himself on the job-killing Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act (EFCA).

One of the illustrations of Halter’s conflicting statements comes from a video interview with The Tolbert Report, where Halter claims that EFCA has not been brought up “not once” in “countless” town hall meetings.

The video then shows a town hall meeting where an attendee asks Halter about the job-killing legislation.

Today’s Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editorial also took note of Halter’s conflicting statements writing, “There are times when Bill (Easy Money) Halter sounds very much like a carnival barker. Yet he is remarkably coy on the subject of how he’d vote on the card-check system that the unions have been pushing as a substitute for the secret ballot when it comes to organizing the country’s workplaces. It’s no secret he’s in Big Labor’s pocket; just look at his list of campaign contributions. But he can’t afford to admit it. Not yet. Not till the election is over.” (Editorial, “The Show Must Go On,” Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 5/26/10)

“This video clearly shows that Bill Halter continues to be dishonest about the Employee ‘Forced’ Choice Act,” said Robert Coon, state director for the Coalition for Arkansas Jobs (CAJ). “He claims EFCA is ‘dead,’ yet the labor bosses who are filling his campaign coffers are still making every effort to get the bill passed. The public cannot and should not be forced to wait until after Election Day to find out where Bill Halter stands on this critical issue to Arkansas’ economy.”
